How to Create Cube Dimension in OWB?

We have one last step to cover our data warehouse. Cube Dimension is used to define our cube, which is where our measures will be stored—the facts that users will want to query.

Following are the simple steps for creating a cube dimension.

Step 1: Right-click on the Cube Node under the ACME module in the Project Explorer and select New option to open the Creation Wizard.

Step 2: You will see the Welcome Screen which will summarize the Steps and click Next.

Step 3: The next step is where we are going to give a Name our Cube Dimensions.

Step 4: We have to select or specify the type of Storage to be used. You have to select either Relational or Multidimensional storage type and click Next.

Step 5: In this step, you have to select the dimension to include with our cube. You have to define three dimensions.

Step 6: Moving on the last step where you have to enter the measures of the Cube. First, we will enter out Quantity and second we will enter the Sales Amount.

Similarly, we have to define the data type for these two fields and click Next.

Step 7: The last step shows the final screen where the summary of the actions will be listed. Click the Finish button on the screen which will end the dialog box and place the cube in the Project Explorer.

Step 8: Finally go to Project  Explorer and expand the Cube node. Then right-click on the Sales_Cube and open in Editor.

Step 9: Finally you can see your Cube Dimension in the editor window.
