A fingerprint scanner system has two tasks to get a picture of your finger first, and it needs to determine if the picture matches the pattern of ridges and valleys in previously scanned pictures. An in-display fingerprint sensor uses an optical fingerprint sensor. To capture the fingerprint data and is embedded under the phone’s screen. It captures the fingerprint’s reflected light through the OLED pixels. So, the display lights up when you touch the screen of the phone to illuminate the fingerprint. The sensor then captures your fingerprint’s high – rescale scan through the light reflected from the pixel gaps.

To check that the sensor properly reads the fingerprint data, you would have to touch the screen. This is done in order to allow the sensor to distinguish between the ridges and valleys of each fingerprint. The in-display fingerprint matching is done by using Synaptics’ Quantum Matcher software.

The in-display fingerprint does not always work accurately, unlike the biometric scanner. The scanner refused to open the door to the phone one out of seven times. And the reader sometimes doesn’t seem to recognize the fingerprints registered. Applying any type of tempered glass can most likely result in inaccurate results or misbehavior of the sensor. As with any new tech, refining takes a few iterations and the same applies to the fingerprint sensor in-display. Compared with traditional fingerprint scanners, it is marginally slower. So purchase biometric fingerprint scanner if you want accuracy, security and faster performance.
